Consecuencias ambientales de las grandes constelaciones y megaconstelaciones de satélites y su impacto en la estabilidad global

Resumen

La irrupción de las grandes constelaciones y megaconstelaciones de satélites ha supuesto un cambio de paradigma en la utilización de las órbitas terrestres. En los últimos años hemos asistido a un crecimiento exponencial de los planes, presentes y futuros, para la realización de este tipo de actividades por parte de múltiples actores. Estas se presentan como un punto de inflexión en términos de conectividad global, sin embargo, cabe preguntarse si los múltiples riesgos que conllevan no son demasiado elevados y, por tanto, si no sería conveniente buscar alternativas más seguras y sostenibles. En este contexto, el presente trabajo pone el foco en las principales consecuencias ambientales derivadas de este tipo de actividades para examinar, desde una perspectiva escasamente abordada, su impacto en la estabilidad global.
