Abstract

This text analyzes the 2021 electoral process in the state of Quintana Roo, in which the state’s 11 city councils, 117 councilors and 11 municipal legal representatives (síndicos) were elected. It specifically studies progress in the electoral participation of women, young people and indigenous ethnic groups, the fight against gender-based political violence, and the party coalitions that emerged in the electoral process.
Particular emphasis is placed on various resolutions of the electoral authorities that resulted in a new organizational map of the electoral districts, political alternation and greater participation by vulnerable groups during the elections.
